Amana backs the compressor on qualifying air conditioners and heat pumps with a Lifetime Limited Warranty to the original registered homeowner. It's a real advantage — but only if the unit is registered on time and maintained by a licensed professional.

What does the Lifetime Compressor Limited Warranty actually cover?
The Amana Lifetime Compressor Limited Warranty covers the compressor — the single most expensive component to replace in an air conditioner or heat pump — for as long as the original registered homeowner owns the home where the equipment was originally installed. Amana also provides a limited unit-replacement warranty on qualifying models: if the compressor fails within a defined window, the entire outdoor unit is replaced.
Parts on the rest of the system carry a separate 10-Year Parts Limited Warranty, again subject to online registration within 60 days of installation.
What you have to do to keep it valid
Three requirements come up in almost every real claim we've seen:
- Register online within 60 days. Unregistered systems drop to a shorter default warranty. Midwest Comfort registers your Amana equipment for you at install; you get a copy of the confirmation.
- Original homeowner, original address. The lifetime portion follows the original registered owner, not the equipment. If the home sells, the warranty converts to a 10-year term.
- Documented annual maintenance by a licensed HVAC contractor. Keep your invoices — they're your proof if a claim ever needs to be filed.
Where the fine print matters
The warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship — not damage from power surges, flooding, improper sizing, DIY refrigerant top-offs, or missed maintenance. Labor is not covered by the manufacturer beyond any specific promotion; the labor cost of a compressor swap is real even under warranty.
That's why installation quality matters as much as the badge on the cabinet. A right-sized, properly-brazed, correctly-charged Amana system is what the warranty is written for. An oversized or hastily-installed one may still be under warranty on paper but fails a claim inspection.
