HVAC Rebates & Savings for Iowa Homeowners (2026)

MidAmerican Energy runs efficiency rebate programs for qualifying residential HVAC equipment installed by participating contractors. Common covered categories include high-efficiency furnaces, central air conditioners, heat pumps (including cold-climate and ductless), smart thermostats, and whole-home dehumidifiers.

The rebate amounts and eligibility windows change annually and by equipment tier. We participate in the rebate paperwork process for the equipment we install — you don't pay us; we submit the paperwork directly to MidAmerican on your behalf so the credit shows up correctly.

Alliant Energy (formerly Interstate Power and Light in the Iowa territory) offers a separate rebate program for its Iowa electric customers, covering similar categories — high-efficiency HVAC, heat pumps, and smart thermostats. If your electric bill is from Alliant rather than MidAmerican, we run the rebate through their program.

25C Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit: Ended for installations completed after December 31, 2025. If your system was installed in 2025 (in-service by the end of the tax year), the credit still applies on that year's return.

HEEHRA / HOMES (Inflation Reduction Act): These are state-administered high-efficiency and whole-home retrofit programs still rolling out in Iowa. Availability, income limits, and covered equipment vary; check the current Iowa program status directly rather than plan around them.
